I think the reason why this guy ended up being more disappointed rather than uncomfortable is because of his familiarity with the trailer. Humans can get used to almost anything, especially if they have to deal with it at a young age. The sweet-salty smell of septic gas would mortify most people. But if you’ve been fixing pipes ever since you were twelve, it’s not going to bother you as much.
You dragged me kicking and screaming into that old doublewide Jim. I smelled it, felt it, saw it, heard it. Good God. I can't imagine you could just make that stuff up. I just pray it was a place you once visited and never had to live in. I am always so impressed with your beautiful work. Thank you.
You can write stuff like this with feeling because you grew up in a basement that flooded periodically and frogs crawled up the drain pipe to visit. Good story.
What a powerful piece Jim. The last two paragraphs really sum-up the character's pragmatic, non-bitter approach to moving forward in his life.
And he only crawls through shit puddles for blood relatives. A good rule to live by.
Funny cause I do be living in a trailer bahahah fire story friend

Wonderfully exciting, pithy tale. I wanted to hug the character a couple of times myself. Felt sorry for her/him at the end.
